PAUSE is a 3D narrative puzzle game set inside an abandoned home following a nuclear evacuation. Inspired by footage and imagery of abandoned homes in Fukushima, the project explores the idea of a space where everyday life has suddenly stopped. Rather than presenting the story directly, I designed the environment, puzzles, and fragmented clues to allow players to reconstruct what happened through exploration. In this project, I focused on environmental storytelling, player flow, puzzle design, interaction design, and atmosphere. The puzzle progression is closely connected to the layout of the house, guiding players through controlled backtracking and gradually revealing the story through objects, documents, and environmental details. I independently worked on the game design, level design, visual direction, 3D environment, interaction systems, puzzle implementation, and overall integration in Unity. Project Highlights • 3D narrative puzzle game • Environmental storytelling • Puzzle and interaction design • Player flow and level design • Stylized low-poly environment • Developed in Unity This video presents the design process, gameplay flow, and visual development behind PAUSE. Please note that this browser version has been adapted for WebGL, so some visual effects, colors, interface scaling, audio, and performance may differ slightly from the original desktop version. These differences are caused by browser compatibility and optimization requirements and do not represent the final quality of the full PC build.
